At the 2022 Augmented World Expo in Santa Clara, Unanimous AI and Agora World announced an exciting partnership to bring the Swarm software environment into the metaverse. This partnership allows Agora World users to amplify their collective intelligence to produce more accurate forecasts, make better decisions and optimize collaboration in virtual environments. From students to business teams to decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), the powerful combination of Swarm AI and VR unlocks the future of virtual teamwork.
What is AI Swarm?
Swarm AI is based on swarm intelligence, the phenomenon that explains why birds flock, bees swarm, and fish congregate in schools. The members of these groups interact as real-time collaborative systems that communicate with each other and converge towards an optimal decision. For example, an individual honey bee, which has about 100,000 times fewer neurons than a human, communicates with thousands of other honey bees to select an optimal location for a new nest, balancing many competing variables like sunlight, temperature, protection and proximity to flowers.
With Unanimous AI software, humans can also form such groups, leveraging the power of swarm intelligence to make decisions or make predictions much more accurately than traditional methods like voting or polls. Rigorous research has proven it: in the past, the platform has allowed sports fans to turn $20 into $11,000 by betting correctly on horse racing results, radiologists to reduce the rate of incorrect medical diagnoses, UN members to more accurately predict food shortages in developing countries, and much more.
Swarm AI Use Cases
Facilitate distributed collaboration
This software becomes even more powerful when introduced to the Metaverse, which Agora World is helping to democratize by providing businesses and creators with the no-code tools needed to create virtual spaces. We all know how difficult it can be to coordinate a remote team, sending messages back and forth, even for the simplest tasks, like scheduling a meeting. By using Swarm AI in a VR environment, remote business teams can leverage Swarm’s intelligence to make better decisions faster.
The partnership between Unanimous AI and Agora World launches a very disruptive mode of virtual collaboration for groups. “As business teams migrate to the metaverse, the need to make fast and accurate group decisions in virtual worlds becomes increasingly important,” said Dr. Louis Rosenberg, CEO of Unanimous AI. “By partnering with Agora World, we’re ensuring the power of Swarm AI is available in rich, immersive spaces where people come together and collaborate.”
“Now organizations can meet in a virtual conference room and have face-to-face conversations while ‘swarming’ on a virtual screen in front of them,” says Rosenberg. “That’s what enterprise customers want – the ability to bring groups of consumers together in the Metaverse and examine virtual products such as small consumer goods, cars, trucks, and even homes – and then generate accurate information using Swarm in real time.”
This powerful combination of technologies isn’t just for sales teams. Public workers, lawmakers, friends in social circles, artists and their fans, teachers and their students, fund managers or funders, and developers conducting user testing of VR experiences all benefit the ability to run the Swarm platform in a VR environment. As more and more industries and tasks migrate to the metaverse, Swarm AI will play an increasingly important role in facilitating distributed collaboration.
Another use case is market research. Focus groups can interact with products in the Metaverse, such as the Coke can or the car as shown in the image above, and engage with Swarm software to generate useful insights for marketers . Doing this research online allows companies to collect a lot more data, while virtual reality ensures that interactions retain their authenticity and users feel more present.
Another exciting application is Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). They are digital native teams that use blockchain to regulate decision-making and governance to achieve various goals, including keeping Web3 projects open, investing funds raised from members, or even pooling money to buy an original copy of the US Constitution. Swarm AI implemented in virtual reality can enable these teams to improve their decisions while respecting different perspectives better than simple voting methods, regardless of where their members are.
Unanimous AI plans to promote Agora World to other companies that want to generate AI-optimized user insights in virtual spaces. “Over time, we expect other virtual platforms to incorporate support for Swarm, especially platforms that are serious about getting business teams to collaborate in the metaverse,” Rosenberg says.
These are the early days for Swarm AI and VR. This combination of technologies will obviously become much more powerful as each improves. As the Swarm platform becomes more refined and virtual reality gains in fidelity, this method of digital collaboration will produce results and decisions that are an order of magnitude better than those provided by a simple survey.
