A $42.6 million budget for fiscal year 2023 was passed by the Villa Rica City Council. On Tuesday, the council voted unanimously to approve a new budget that shows an adjustment with a spending plan down 16% from last year.
Scheduled to take effect from October 1, the budget will fund only a portion of the projects requested by city staff while accounting for inflation that affects all taxpayers. Of the $16.5 million requested by city staff for needs and projects such as staffing and additional operating items such as new projects, programs and ideas that departments have requested for this upcoming budget, only $6.7 million has been allocated, leaving much-needed items like sewer and solid waste rate increases and other items totaling $9.8 million to be left out.
